Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine (PT) is the most popular and affordable decking material in the USA. It is treated with ACQ (an arsenic-free preservative) that provides strong protection against rot, termites, mold, and mildew, making it well suited for outdoor environments.

This durable wood has a long track record of performance, even when installed directly on the ground or over existing outdoor surfaces such as patios, balconies, and roof decks. Mister Boardwalk® uses high-quality pressure treated pine to create strong, long-lasting roll-out deck sections designed for years of outdoor use.

Maintenance Tips:

Avoid Direct Sunlight: PT can dry out, crack, and warp when exposed to prolonged sun. It performs best when placed in shaded areas.

Periodical Inspection: Check for splintering, especially in sun-exposed areas. If splintering occurs, it can be smoothed with a razor knife. Over time, PT stabilizes and splintering decreases.

Cleaning: Simply hose off the roll-out boardwalk to remove dirt, sand or debris. For a deeper cleaning, a deck cleaner or mild bleach solution can restore its appearance. Apply with a stiff brush if needed.

Staining: Applying a high-quality deck stain can protect PT from the sun and help minimize cracking, splitting, or warping.

Alternative Materials: For those seeking a chemical-free option, Mister Boardwalk® also offers alternatives such as Trex® (a recycled wood and plastic composite), and Teak/Ipe (naturally harvested and certified).

Slat Spacing Options:

Mister Boardwalk® walkways are available in three slat spacing options to suit different uses and environments.

No Spacing

Creates a solid deck surface with no gaps between slats. Ideal for installations over grass, dirt, or uneven ground where you want more coverage and to help prevent weeds from growing through. Also a good option where a smooth, continuous surface is preferred.

Narrow Spacing

A versatile option that works well for bare feet, small pets, children, and patio furniture. It is commonly used for patios, pool areas, hot tubs, outdoor showers, balconies, and rooftop decks. Many customers also like the appearance, often describing it as “beachy”, “nautical” or “oriental garden”
