Material & Construction

Mister Boardwalk® has ingeniously designed our “Roll-Out” and “FlexWalk” products with a distinctive, patented construction that eliminates the need for nails or screws. This innovative approach involves drilling horizontal holes through the slat material, allowing nylon cords or stainless steel rods to be threaded through these holes to create a sturdy and flexible assembly. This method not only enhances the durability and flexibility of the product but also ensures a seamless and elegant finish. Ideal for both residential and commercial spaces, these products offer an easy-to-install and eco-friendly solution, perfect for those seeking both functionality and aesthetic appeal in their outdoor walkways.

Pressure Treated Pine

Pressure Treated Southern Yellow Pine is the most popular and affordable decking material in the USA. Treated with an arsenic-free preservative, it offers strong protection against rot, termites, mold, and mildew, and has a long track record of durability even when installed directly on the ground or over existing outdoor surfaces such as patios, balconies, and roof decks. Mister Boardwalk® uses high-quality Pressure Treated Pine to create strong, long-lasting roll-out boardwalk sections designed for years of outdoor use.

Maintenance Tips:

Avoid Direct Sunlight: PT can dry out, crack, and warp when exposed to prolonged sun. It performs best when placed in shaded areas or directly on the ground where it remains moist.

Periodical Inspection: Check for splintering, especially in sun-exposed areas. If splintering occurs, it can be smoothed with a razor knife. Over time, PT stabilizes and splintering decreases.

Cleaning: Simply hose off the roll-out boardwalk to remove dirt, sand or debris. For a deeper cleaning, a deck cleaner or mild bleach solution can restore its appearance. Apply with a stiff brush if needed.

Staining: Applying a high-quality deck stain can protect PT from the sun and help minimize cracking, splitting, or warping.

Teak/ Ipe

Teak/Ipe is our premium hardwood option. While we use the term TEAK to help customers easily recognize the style and appearance, the material we supply is actually Ipe, a responsibly harvested South American hardwood known for its exceptional strength and durability.

Ipe is one of the longest-lasting decking materials available and naturally resists rot, insects, and harsh weather conditions. It is extremely dense and durable, making it ideal for outdoor walkways and high-traffic areas.

This hardwood also offers the beauty of a fine natural wood, featuring a tight, elegant grain and rich, warm coloring similar to Teak. Over time, if left untreated, it will naturally weather to an attractive silvery-gray patina while maintaining its structural integrity.

Maintenance Tips:

Natural Weathering: Like many hardwoods, Ipe will gradually weather from its rich brown tones to a natural silvery-gray color when exposed to the elements. This change is cosmetic and does not affect the strength or durability of the wood.

Cleaning: Occasional cleaning with mild soap and water can help remove dirt, sand, or debris that may accumulate on the surface. A light pressure washing also works well.

Durability: Due to its exceptional density and natural resistance to insects and rot, Ipe requires minimal maintenance and is well suited for long-term outdoor use.

Trex®

Trex® composite decking is a durable, low-maintenance material made from a blend of recycled wood fibers and plastic. It offers the natural appearance of wood while providing excellent resistance to rot, splintering, insects, and moisture.

Trex® performs well in wet environments such as around pools, outdoor showers, beach areas, and damp climates. It is also resistant to cracking, warping, and fading, making it a long-lasting option for outdoor walkways.

Trex® provides a clean, modern look and is an excellent choice for customers who want the appearance of wood without the regular maintenance associated with natural materials.

Maintenance Tips:

Routine Cleaning: Trex® composite requires very little maintenance. Occasional cleaning with mild soap and water will help remove dirt, sand, and debris.

No Staining Required: Unlike natural wood, Trex® does not require staining, sealing, or painting to maintain its durability.

Surface Care: Although highly durable, keeping the surface free of standing debris and regularly rinsing off sand or dirt will help maintain the appearance of the walkway.

Long-Term Performance: Trex® is designed to resist rot, splintering, and insect damage, making it a dependable, low-maintenance choice for long-term outdoor use.
